Class of 2015 – STARS Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Emelie McFarland on her induction into the Maryland STARS Hall of Fame.

IMG_4030On January 25, 2015 Emelie McFarland became the 3rd member of the Maryland STARS Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame is a prestigious honor given to those who have unselfishly given to the program. In the case of Emelie, she is a former STARS players who has come back and given tremendously to the program over the years.

McFarland played for the Stars for 7 seasons. Considered by most to be the greatest catcher in the programs history. She caught more games than any other player in Stars history as well as played in more game wins than any other player in Stars history. Along the way she donated many hours to help with the Stars summer camp and working as a mentor to younger players.  Like her family, Ed (Dad), Vickie (Mom), and Darryl (older Brother), Emelie had the best of attitudes and gave more than she received.

Emelie went on to play at Ursinus College and “star” for them.  She carried the Stars torch in college for 4 years. She is now working toward her PHD in Psychology focusing on helping the older members of society. She has continued to help the Stars with her mentoring of young catchers and her now annual catching clinic for Stars players and other young catchers in the area.

Emelie is most deserving of her induction into the Maryland Stars Hall of Fame.  She will always be remembered as the epitome of what all Stars players should be on and off the field.
